Welcome to the Austin Christian Church

We are a family of believers committed to following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are striving to build a fellowship that extends beyond social, racial and generational lines. God has blessed us with a dynamic campus ministry at the University of Texas, Texas State University and Austin Community College. "It takes a village to raise a child," and to that end the families in our congregation are committed to providing a dynamic learning environment for our children as they are raised in the Lord. An exciting children's program, preteen, junior high and high school groups are all an important part of our ministry. We are a loving, tight knit fellowship and are always excited to welcome new members to our family. We have many hopes, dreams and aspirations of what God can do through us individually and collectively as a fellowship. We invite you to join us!

Daniel: Prophet to the Nations

This coming weekend, we have the privilege of having Dr. John Oakes give a presentation on the book of Daniel. Dr. Oakes currently works as a professor of Chemistry at Grossmont College in San Diego, CA. John is also the author of 5 books including Daniel: Prophet to the Nations. John is also president of the Apologetics Research Society and writes a monthly newsletter entitled, Evidence For Christianity.

Daniel - Prophet to the NationsIn terms of personal life, John became a Christian in 1978 while a graduate student at the University of Colorado. John has been married to his wife Jan for 25 years and they have raised three children: Ben, 22; Elizabeth, 20; and Katie, 18.

John’s work on Daniel includes an exposition of Daniel combining a discussion of the practical application of the book with a detailed analysis of the prophetic content. His presentation is sure to be as inspiring as it is educational.

John will be presenting Daniel in two sessions. The first session will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Come early for fellowship and snacks! The second session will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The book of Daniel is intriguing with it’s apocalyptic language and prophecy. It is equally inspiring as Daniel was a man of great courage and conviction. Let’s all take advantage of this unique opportunity to be strengthened in our knowledge and understanding of this great book. One added programing note, we will be having another guest speaker next weekend - Derik Vett of the Dallas Church. John Oakes will be speaking to the teens and preteens during the service on the subject of Jesus: Man, Myth or Messiah. This is a change from the original announcement that had John speaking for our Youth Ministry Night. Due to an unforeseen change in John’s return flight home, we were forced to adjust the schedule.
