Here is some good news from New York,
Truly God is at work in the New York City International Church of Christ. When the news broke on January 12 concerning the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the hearts of the disciples in New York were moved to take care of our fellow disciples in the Port-au-Prince church.
The call to pray, fast and give generously for our brothers and sisters in Haiti was received with great enthusiasm. Recalling the words of Jesus, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another;” the New York City Church rallied to partner with HOPE worldwide to meet the daunting challenge that our fellow disciples faced in Port-au-Prince.
Through this tragedy the New York disciples understood that God provided his people with an opportunity to practice brotherly love for those in need. The church came together as one man and over three consecutive Sunday’s contributed a total of over $100,000.00 for disaster relief. This generous, freewill offering by the New York Church for our sister church in Port-au-Prince is a true testimony of love in action.
No amount of money can fix the heartbreak, loss of life and loss of property this earthquake caused. Our prayers continue to
pour out to God for those who are grieving over the death of a loved, are striving to heal from an injury or are struggling to put their lives back together.
Let us continue to pray and sacrifice for our brothers and sisters in Port-au-Prince and for the whole country of Haiti. Let us pray that God would turn this disaster into a great opportunity to serve the needy and to seek and save the lost
