Special Missions Contribution
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus’ last words to his disciples continue to ring in the ears of all who would dare to follow him. As Christ’s followers, we have been given a mandate to take the good news to “all nations.” It is exciting to be a part of a worldwide fellowship, dedicated to this mission. While our fulBillment of the “Great Commission” starts here at home, as a fellowship, we have remained dedicated to this mission beyond our borders through supporting mission work. Over the years, we have supported mission
work in Eurasia and the Middle East. Currently, as a congregation we are supporting the mission work that is taking place in Israel, specifically, in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Our annual missions contribution is a lifeline for our courageous brothers and sisters. Last year, we raised $65,000 in support of mission work. While not a large amount of money, God has been able to multiply its effect for Israel. Additionally, our support is able to provide training for the Joukovskis through providing them the opportunity to attend regional and global leadership conferences. This is particularly critical for ministry staff serving in locations far from neighboring church fellowships. Our funds are also able to support the Israeli churches by providing them a small stipend for meeting facilities and transportation between cities to better enable the disciples to get together. Last summer, the Tel Aviv church was particularly encouraged by a summer internship program made possible by our missions contribution. Two interns spent the summer sharing their faith an strengthening the disciples.
This year, we are continuing our support of the Israeli churches as well as beginning to foster a connection with the work in the southern part of Eurasia, particularly the Caucus Mountain Region. For the past several years, we have set our goal at raising 10x a regular weekly contribution. Based upon our average of $7500 a week, we’d like to shoot for $75,000 this year. The additional money raised this year would be used to increase our support of these mission churches through potential ministry internships. Our special missions contribution will take place on April 18th. Let us all continue to pray and sacrifice for our brothers and sisters working in a very difficult mission Bield. To God be the Glory!
